As much as people extol the values of a challenge and the benefits and self-development it can bring, there are times when you just want to kick-back and think of nothing and let the brain rest. This third album from US Country quintet Home Free could just be the soundtrack for that.

There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with it: the performances are nigh on perfect from all concerned and it’s all very agreeable. It just has a very saccharine wholesomeness and just a bit cloying.

Of the eleven tracks five are original and these are by far the strongest. The opening brace of Summer in the Country and Good Ole Country Harmony are up beat albeit lightweight Country tunes

Of the covers 9 to 5’s original exuberance and fun is kicked into touch and what possessed (sic) Charlie Daniels to get involved with their take on The Devil Went Down to Georgia is anyone’s guess as any sense of the originals menace and Brimstone has been polished away. And the less said about Elvira the better!

If your tastes are sweet, blancmangegy whisked with candy floss this could be for you.
