Alex Prestige is a Kalingrad based DJ/Producer about to release an EP of collabs on DJ Hazard’s label Radius, titled ‘World Destroyer’. Hazard himself called Prestige’s track ‘Angel of Death’ the best dnb release of the summer in a recent interview. Music News caught up with Prestige him to chat tunes, gigs and karate…
MUSIC NEWS: what has been your gig of the year so far?
PRESTIGE: "Playaz night" in Saint-Petersburg was great, it’s been a pleasure to play there as the country and the label citizen at the same time.
Also Belgium gigs are always good... Never played in UK, it’s hard to get visa etc... Hopefully it will happen soon.
MUSIC NEWS: do you have a favourite track on the EP?
PRESTIGE: I’m pretty happy with the whole EP, we carefully chose every track and didn't rush it. But if I have to choose one... 'Angel of Death'
MUSIC NEWS: you've produced some great collabs (and team up with Konichi and Retronymn on this EP) who else would you like to work with?
PRESTIGE: Well, me and Tyke have been working together for about 4 or 5 years now... and it works. This is my constant sparring partner and friend. I think that’s enough for me at the moment.
MUSIC NEWS: as a karate expert, what tunes would get you psyched up for a fight?
PRESTIGE: Haha, DNB music can help you to do this for sure.. Good one is good for shadow-boxing. Annoying one is good to fight with someone who’s playing it.... But I’m trying to not do this anymore haha
MUSIC NEWS: what's the best thing about your hometown of Kaliningrad?
PRESTIGE: Kaliningrad is definitely the best place in Russia to live and i love it so much. It’s a small piece of Russia in the middle of Europe between Poland and Lithuania. The best thing is... Baltic Sea beach. I don’t know what would i do without it..
