With a band name of Weapons of Mass Relief, there is no disguising the political slant in their music. But what does the new single ‘Death of a Nation' promise with it's very suggestive title?
Well, very much actually there being fire and passion in the music as well as the lyrics.
This is their third single release and the band seem primed for their debut album release on this showing.
The style is in the Rage Against the Machine mould with a rap vocal deliverance of the defined and ordered, not screamed variety. This set against a great riff, but there is texture and detail in the layers of the song as well, so lyrics and music are kept busy and on the pulse all the way through.
It's a great single and the second track ‘The Last Place She Went Was The Ocean' is no less thrilling with it's classic ‘Pixies' type bass beginning before it opens into another thumping riff.
I defy you not to enjoy yourself listening to this. I'll certainly be looking out for their debut album due for spring 2006 release. A definite Music-News thumbs up.
