The first special guests to take to the stage and perform with music legend Burt Bacharach at his June 25th London Palladium show have been announced.
Two iconic names in popular music – singer songwriters Rumer and Marc Almond – will take to the stage to perform songs with Burt and his orchestra, bringing a new take on songs from his extraordinary catalogue. Bacharach's global audiences span several generations, and he is viewed as the unique combination of one of the greatest composers of all time and the ultra-cool cult hero of the contemporary music set.
The special artists will each sing a couple of songs throughout the concert, alongside Burt, who will be performing with his exceptional group of singers and orchestra.
A true legend in every sense of the word, Bacharach’s songs sound as fresh today as they have done throughout his career, with this unique concert giving fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear new interpretations of these timeless songs.
Rumer burst onto the music scene in 2010 with her sensational debut Seasons Of My Soul. Nominated for two Brit awards, Rumer first had an affiliation with Bacharach in that year when she recorded her EP, Rumer sings Burt Bacharach. She also performed at The White House in 2012 at The Gershwin Prize honoring Bacharach and his long standing songwriting partner, Hal David.
Marc Almond is one of the most gifted vocal talents the UK has ever produced. The Ivor Novello award winning artist first found fame as one half of 80s due Soft Cell, and has had a diverse career as a solo artist selling over 30 million records worldwide, collaborating with the likes of Gene Pitney and Jools Holland along the way.
Also announced as special guest is American singer/songwriter Norma Jean Martine. Having performed at the Calling Festival in London in 2014, Martine released her acclaimed debut single Animals on Virgin EMI in the UK in October. The London based New Yorker has been winning critical appraise for her head turning vocals and has performed as special guest for Lissie amongst others.
