28 April 2016
V Festival 2016, sponsored by Virgin Media, has today announced a further host of exciting acts who will play across the upcoming festival weekend, 20th and 21st August 2016.
Australian songstress and recent Coachella showstopper Sia, will take to the stage for a UK festival exclusive. Her recent Coachella performance was a back to back showstopper, including an impressive troupe of celebrity dancers in what was her first full performance since 2011. A headliner in her own right, Sia’s live performances are truly something to behold. V Festival-goers can expect to hear the wig-wearing enigma’s recent hits, including ‘Cheap Thrills’ and ‘Chandelier’, in what will be her first performance in the UK since December 2015.
The line-up just keeps getting better and better, as it is announced that BRITs Critics’ Choice Award winner, Tom Odell will be performing at V Festival. The British indie pop singer-songwriter, whose new album will be released in June, is currently in the midst of a sold out tour. V Festival will be one of the only places fans can get their hands on a ticket to see Tom play his new material, following the major success of his debut album ‘Long Way Down’.
Set to bring a party atmosphere to the festival will be Grammy nominated, MNEK. The London born artist who rose to fame with his collaboration on Rudimental’s ‘Spoons’ and Gorgon City’s ‘Ready for Your Love’; has most recently been working with another V Festival 2016 artist, Zara Larsson, on the hit single, ‘Never Forget You’. The London chart topper is sure to be a crowd favourite.
Added to the Radio 1 stage alongside Tom Odell and MNEK, is British DJ and record producer, Sigala. The tropical house artist, who achieved a top 3 UK single with ‘Sweet Lovin’, is set to have a successful summer with his upcoming debut album which includes ‘Give Me Your Love’, featuring fellow V artist John Newman on vocals and production from Nile Rodgers.
British soul singers, Laura Mvula and Corinne Bailey Rae, are both set to perform across the weekend with their upcoming new material. Laura Mvula will release ‘The Dreaming Room’ in June, a follow on album from Mercury Prize nominated ‘Sing to the Moon’. The successful singer-songwriter collaborated with the likes of Nile Rodgers and Wretch 32 on her new EP and is sure to delight the crowds with her latest tunes.
Grammy winner, Corinne Bailey Rae will be making her eagerly anticipated comeback since 2010’s critically acclaimed ‘The Sea’ album with her latest album, ‘The Heart Speaks In Whispers’, which will be released just ahead of the festival in May.
