Delicate Holly, indie rock band from Cheltenham made a big impression on judges at Lakefest Livewire final; making it impossible to turn them down for a spot at this year’s festival.

Bad Cardigan, an acoustic duo from Lancashire was announced the winner of the Lakefest Livewire final and will be performing on the main stage at Lakefest in August; however the four piece from Cheltenham impressed the judges so much that they have made an extra slot so Delicate Holly are able to perform on the floating globe stage.

The Lakefest livewire final took place on Sunday 4th May at Croft Farm Tewkesbury where bands went head-to-head for the chance to win a place on stage at the festival. Erica and the Mangled Wurzels also performed at the event.

Martin Newell, Lakefest organiser said “It was an absolutely stonking event. The bands were awesome and we just had to offer Delicate Holly a spot on the Floating Globe stage. They are a great local band who got the crowd going; we have also signed them to play at Croft Farm regularly. It was a tough decision to pick the winner of the competition so we had to somehow get Delicate Holly involved in the festival. The competition has been a great success and I hope it has given bands a great platform.”

Delicate Holly said “We're absolutely thrilled to have achieved a slot at this year’s Lakefest. It's exciting to have the opportunity to play in such a beautiful environment; we're looking forward to it very much.”

Bad Cardigan said “We were already really keen to win a chance to play at Lakefest 2014, but once we saw the site, met the staff and ate the hog-roast, we were absolutely determined to succeed. It's the perfect venue for a summer festival and we are ecstatic to have secured a main stage appearance.”
