GBOB CHALLENGE: A world of music on your doorstep

After six months of competition and over 3,000 entries, GBOB.com, the Global Battle Of The Bands corporation, is proud to announce that 26 national winners will converge in London next month to play the GBOB Challenge 2008 World Finals at King’s Cross Scala on December 14 and 15 2008. An event that is always great fun for bands and audience alike, as ever the overall winning band will receive an amazing prize of $100,000 cash.
The GBOB Challenge is the world’s biggest live music competition and promotes real music played by real bands rather than manufactured acts and TV reality show disposables. See some of the best new bands from around the world play two-song, eight-minute sets. With super-fast changeovers, that’s a new band every 10 minutes! There are just two rules: no cover songs and no pre-recorded music.
Representing their countries on Sunday December 14: Powerage (Australia), Wallace Vanborn (Belgium), Metro (Denmark), Ladyfire (Faroe Islands), Curanderos (Germany), C-cord (Indonesia), Baby Jenx (Ireland), Restless Soul (Italy), Pinky Piglets (Japan), Sorry Boys (Poland), The Leads (Scotland), Tea Break (Serbia), Tango Tempo (Ukraine); and on Monday December 15: Fable (Canada), Killer Soap (China), Abroad Experiments (Croatia), Floors And Walls (England), Agent Fresco (Iceland), Lab Rat (Malaysia), Todo (Moldova), Christine (Norway), Phoenix (Pakistan), The Marker (Romania), Darksound (Spain), Broke City (US) and Kali Mist (Wales).
Last year’s winners, Boys In A Band from the Faroe Islands, will be joining us again to play live as the judgely huddle convene to announce the overall winner at the end of day two. Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock joins us as a judge, alongside producer Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Charlatans) and others TBC.
Asian model and MTV Thailand presenter Michele Waagaard will host the event.
