Atlanta-born indie rock band Last Relapse released “Throw Away the Key” on October 23, 2026, alongside its official music video. The 3:55 indie rock/pop single was written by David Holding in 2006, when he was 16 years old.
It was the first song Holding wrote entirely on his own. After being removed from a band in which he had been the vocalist, he taught himself guitar and began writing his own music. The lyrics grew from a relationship he was navigating at the time.
“‘Throw Away the Key’ was the first song I wrote completely on my own, in 2006 when I was 16,” Holding says.
Originally active from 2006 to 2012, Last Relapse played more than 200 shows and released the album Machine in 2010. The band reunited after a 13-year hiatus and released a five-track comeback EP in November 2025. “Throw Away the Key” brings a previously unreleased part of the band's early history into its current chapter.
