To mark the 50th anniversary of director Nicolas Roeg’s seminal science fiction odyssey, The Man Who Fell To Earth, STUDIOCANAL has announced a 4K re-release of the cult classic. The restored film will return to UK cinemas nationwide on 13 November 2026, followed by a 5-disc Anniversary Collector’s Edition on 16 November via the new STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS label.
Featuring a era-defining lead performance from David Bowie in his debut feature film role alongside Candy Clark, Rip Torn, Buck Henry, and Bernie Casey, the film remains a poignant commentary on loneliness and outsider isolation. Based on Walter Tevis’s cult novel, the narrative follows Thomas Jerome Newton (Bowie), a humanoid alien who travels to Earth from a drought-stricken planet on a desperate mission to secure water for his home world.
Utilising advanced alien technology to patent inventions, Newton amasses immense wealth with the help of attorney Oliver Farnsworth (Buck Henry) to build a return spacecraft. However, after beginning a relationship with hotel maid Mary-Lou (Candy Clark), his mission and freedom are threatened by his rogue confidant Dr. Nathan Bryce (Rip Torn).
The upcoming 5-disc Collector’s Edition includes the film on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, new artwork by Aleksander Walijewski, a 2CD soundtrack, four posters, art cards, and a 100-page booklet containing a new interview with Candy Clark.
The box set also features the exclusive premiere of Bowie & Roeg: Aliens in America, a new 40-minute documentary exploring Bowie’s iconic role. The feature includes archive footage alongside interviews with Geoff MacCormack, Ava Cherry, editor Graeme Clifford, and director Nic Roeg, examining how cosmic forces aligned to create the masterpiece.
Additional bonus materials include archive interviews with Sam Taylor-Johnson, Michael Deeley, Paul Mayersberg, Tony Richmond, and Bowie’s 1977 French TV appearance.
The Man Who Fell To Earth opens in UK cinemas on 13 November 2026, with the 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition available to pre-order now ahead of its 16 November home release.
