On “I Want It All,” 2LØT find new questions waiting beyond the finish line

2LØT’s debut album, Entropy, drew its philosophical foundation from the Second Law of Thermodynamics and humanity’s relationship with disorder. Its follow-up turns the inquiry inward. Set for release September 25th, RE/SOLVE examines the instability that can accompany personal transformation, even when that transformation appears successful from the outside.



The clearest statement of that theme arrives with “I Want It All,” featuring Mariel Jacoda. Released as the album’s final preview, the song takes stock of dreams that have already been realized and asks why desire remains after the anticipated reward has arrived.

Its answer is deliberately open. The lyrics recognize the wish to “be someone” and the experience of becoming that person, but fulfillment refuses to hold still. A changed life produces a changed perspective, and that perspective introduces another set of ambitions.

That continuing cycle runs throughout RE/SOLVE. 2LØT describes the album through the idea of a “Second Hero’s Journey,” moving past a familiar rise from hardship to victory. The record instead follows what happens when the person returning from that struggle must decide how to live with a transformed sense of self.

The album’s advance singles have each occupied a different point along that path. “Favorite Star” dealt with leaving behind an earlier identity. “Come Together” placed trust and doubt within a new relationship, while “I Hurt Myself Again” examined the way later understanding can revise old memories.

“Tread” gave the project an instrumental showcase featuring Frank Moka. “Lose My Mind” explored the lingering effects of relational collapse. “Iris,” featuring Eric Krasno and members of The Funky Knuckles, addressed resilience and the ability to recognize personal worth.

“I Want It All” does not negate those stages or attempt to summarize them neatly. Its purpose is closer to reopening the narrative. After 15 tracks of searching, fracture, recognition, and renewal, the closing song acknowledges that self-actualization may create momentum rather than finality.

That idea is matched by the scope of 2LØT’s Electronic Jam Music framework. The five-piece pulls together hip hop, funk, soul, jazz, rock, improvisation, and electronic production, allowing contrasting styles to meet within the same larger project. Mariel Jacoda becomes part of an album roster that also includes Jon Batiste, Robert Randolph, Elise Trouw, Cameron McCloud, and Eric Krasno.
