Genesis Publications has announced that a previously unreleased 1974 demo, titled "Glitter," will be included as an exclusive 7-inch vinyl picture disc alongside Alex Van Halen's upcoming signed limited-edition book, VAN HALEN.
Recorded in 1974, "Glitter" features the original band lineup of Alex Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, and original bassist Mark Stone. The track stands as the earliest official Van Halen recording ever released. The accompanying picture disc, designed with artwork inspired by the band’s iconic 1984 tour, also includes spoken-word commentary from Alex Van Halen, extracted from new interviews conducted for the publication.
Strictly limited to 1,500 hand-signed and numbered copies worldwide, the 312-page luxury book provides a comprehensive chronicle of the group's formative years. Curated directly from Alex Van Halen's private archives, the volume details the brothers' journey from their childhood relocation from Holland to Pasadena, California, through their early performances on the Sunset Strip, culminating in their landmark 1978 debut and the success of 1984.
The book features rare photography, unseen personal memorabilia, correspondence, stage gear, and archival press materials. Central to the release is an original manuscript written by Alex Van Halen, offering his most detailed personal reflection on the band's history, alongside archival commentary from the late Eddie Van Halen.
"Glitter" and the VAN HALEN book package are presented as a Collector boxed set housed in a clamshell case with silver-debossed detailing. The set includes additional archival replicas, including a 1979 tour keychain, stage-used guitar pick reproductions, and art postcards.
Scheduled to begin shipping in November 2026, the Collector edition of VAN HALEN is available for pre-order exclusively via VanHalenAnthology.com.
