Norwegian singer, songwriter, and producer Ane Brun has announced her new album, I Thought We Were The Same, set for release on November 6, 2026, through BMG. Marking her first collection of newly written material in six years, the 11-track project explores themes of trust, identity, betrayal, and human resilience.

The announcement arrives alongside the release of the lead single, "Hold Me," co-written and produced with Norwegian electronic artist ARY. The track examines the tension between longing and illusion, accompanied by a music video featuring choreography centered on a continuous embrace between two dancers.

Written over three years, I Thought We Were The Same builds upon the electronic-pop textures of Brun's previous work, After the Great Storm, blending pop arrangements, hooks, and choruses with personal lyricism. The album includes collaborations with several prominent Scandinavian artists, including "How Can I Hold Your Hand" featuring Emilie Nicolas and "Eat The Fruit" featuring electronic duo Röyksopp.

Brun explained that the record grew out of a desire to push her sound into a clearer, pop-oriented direction while maintaining emotional depth. Thematically, the album reflects on the fragile nature of interpersonal trust, examining both how easily connections fracture and the choice to remain vulnerable despite that risk.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Brun has established herself as an independent artist and label founder, earning international recognition for her vocal style and production approach.
