Fontaines D.C. have announced their fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, set for release on 16th October 2026 via XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, the 14-track project serves as the follow-up to their UK platinum-certified 2024 album Romance. The announcement arrives alongside the release of the lead single, "Marianne."

The new material marks a shift away from the guitar-driven arrangements of the band's earlier work, incorporating cold synthesiser tones, marching drums, samples, and 1960s Italian pop-inspired strings. Several tracks on the record feature no guitars at all. Made with Ford across London, the English countryside, and Palermo, the album explores themes of hedonism, artificial intelligence, environmental collapse, and digital escapism.

Frontman Grian Chatten described the record as a darker, more corrupted counterpart to Romance, explaining that the songs reflect an honest view of modern anxieties rather than offering easy optimism. Chatten drew lyrical inspiration from time spent in Venice, Vienna, and Sicily, with lead single "Marianne" taking partial inspiration from the 2024 television series Ripley. Bassist Conor Deegan noted that while previous albums questioned geographic identity and belonging, Dopamine Chamber examines internal and digital avenues of escape.

The band—comprising Chatten, Carlos O’Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan, and Tom Coll—have built a reputation for evolving their sound across their discography, spanning their 2019 debut Dogrel, 2020’s A Hero’s Death, 2022’s chart-topping Skinty Fia, and 2024’s Romance.

In support of the release, Fontaines D.C. are performing across Europe this month before heading to the UK and Ireland to headline the Reading & Leeds and Electric Picnic festivals over the August bank holiday weekend. North American festival appearances at Shaky Knees, Sea.Hear.Now, and Ohana Festival will follow in September.

"Marianne" is available to stream now. Dopamine Chamber releases globally on 16th October 2026 via XL Recordings across LP, deluxe LP, CD, cassette, and digital formats.
