The Dresden Dolls have announced Yes, Virginia… (Tailor’s Version), a newly re-recorded edition of their landmark second studio album to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The punk cabaret duo, comprising Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione, will release the album digitally on Friday, August 7, 2026, with CD and vinyl formats following on September 4. The release follows the conclusion of their 20-year contract with Roadrunner Records, allowing the band to reclaim their master recordings.
The Dresden Dolls recorded the project live at Mad Oak Studios in Boston alongside producer Benny Grotto and original sound engineer Paul Kolderie. Taking a playful nod to Taylor Swift’s re-recording efforts with its title, the album features guest vocal appearances from acclaimed singer Veronica Swift and two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon. Fans have already been given a preview of the record with newly recorded renditions of fan-favorite singles "Backstabber" and "My Alcoholic Friends."
The Dresden Dolls have captured their evolved musical chemistry across the album's tracklist, reflecting two decades of artistic growth without attempting to copy the 2006 original. Palmer noted that the songs feel remarkably fitting for 2026, addressing themes of powerlessness, political turmoil, and corporate influence. Physical formats will also feature new artwork by surrealist artist Niki McQueen alongside an exclusive bonus track.
The Dresden Dolls will support the new release with an extensive world tour kicking off at Arena Wien Open Air in Vienna on September 1, 2026. The European run includes visits to Warsaw, Prague, Berlin, Utrecht, and Paris, before heading to the UK for two special shows at Manchester’s Albert Hall on September 10 and London’s British Airways ARC on September 11. The band will then continue their tour across North America through October and December.
