North London rap heavyweight Headie One has announced his new mixtape, Monday Marathon Music, accompanied by the release of its lead single, Turnt To A Target. Out via One Records/The Orchard, the track lands as a powerful statement of intent, exploring the realities of success and the pressures that come with life in the spotlight.

Built around a growling drill beat and moody atmospherics, the track balances moments of luxury with the weight of fame. Headie uses his unmistakable flow and introspective lyricism to reflect on how growing success can make an artist a focal point from every angle, contrasting bars about spontaneous trips to the South of France with the ongoing weight of public scrutiny.

"Turnt to a target is a song about how along the journey of being a musician and building popularity you can turn to a target in all kinds of ways… target of attention, target of fans, target from the haters etc but we have to rise above and keep pushing," Headie explained regarding the single's core concept.

The announcement follows an exclusive fan event hosted earlier in the month, where Headie invited fans and content creators into the studio to witness his creative process firsthand. Hosted by Walkz, attendees watched the rapper record and complete several tracks destined for the mixtape while incorporating real-time feedback from the live audience.

The new music builds upon an impressive run of recent releases, including Bellingham, You've Changed, MYSTERY BOX alongside K-Trap, and CASH STACKIN with M Huncho. Together, these tracks set the stage for Monday Marathon Music, which marks his first full-length project since 2024's The Last One.

Throughout his career, Headie One has amassed over 2.5 billion streams, earned five UK Top 10 singles, three UK Top 10 albums, and secured BRIT, MOBO, and Mercury Prize recognitions. Monday Marathon Music looks set to continue his legacy when it arrives later this summer.
