Acclaimed Japanese musician, composer, and philanthropist YOSHIKI has donated €100,000 to support relief efforts for wildfires in France and Spain, alongside a ¥10 million donation to assist communities affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto, Japan.
Provided through his U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, YOSHIKI Foundation America, the artist directed €50,000 each to the French Red Cross and Spanish Red Cross. The funds will support emergency response, medical aid, temporary shelter, clean drinking water, and essential supplies for communities displaced by intensifying fires across southwestern France and regions of Spain.
Simultaneously, YOSHIKI contributed ¥10 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist emergency response efforts in Kumamoto, following a powerful earthquake that hit the prefecture today.
Speaking on the international relief efforts, YOSHIKI expressed his deep personal connection to the affected regions. Having recently performed at Japan Expo in Paris before two sold-out nights at Los Angeles' Walt Disney Concert Hall, the leader of X Japan highlighted that compassion must transcend geographical boundaries during crisis events.
"Even though I have lived in Los Angeles for many years, Japan will always be my home, and Europe—especially France—has also become another home to me," YOSHIKI stated. "Seeing people in France, Spain, and Japan facing such devastating disasters is heartbreaking. Disasters do not recognize borders, and compassion should not either."
The recent donations add to YOSHIKI's extensive history of global humanitarian work through YOSHIKI Foundation America. In 2025, the musician contributed $500,000 toward Los Angeles wildfire relief and volunteered with World Central Kitchen. His previous aid efforts include supporting victims of the Noto Peninsula and Taiwan earthquakes, Hurricane Helene and Milton relief in the United States, and disaster aid across Australia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
YOSHIKI’s creative connections to France also include his fashion house, MAISON YOSHIKI PARIS, alongside artistic collaborations with French brands such as Baccarat and Champagne Pommery. The French, Spanish, and Japanese Red Cross organizations continue to deploy emergency teams and first responders to support affected populations across all three countries.
