Lightroom in King’s Cross has announced a brand-new series of live events, pitch-black listening sessions, and literary talks celebrating David Bowie. Running alongside the venue’s major immersive exhibition David Bowie: You’re Not Alone, the "Bowie Nights" programming will highlight the icon's lasting musical legacy throughout the summer months ahead of a planned 80th birthday celebration on 8 January.
Highlighting the schedule is a multi-night concert residency from acclaimed composer and cellist Peter Gregson on 3–5 September. Gregson will offer a creative musical response to Bowie and Brian Eno’s seminal Berlin period. Performing on electric cello, Gregson's set will feature new arrangements of Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint and Eno’s Music for Airports, alongside his own compositions and unique Bowie covers tailored for each performance. The shows will combine live camera feeds, bespoke visual assets, and Lightroom's specialized Holoplot spatial audio system.
Audio enthusiasts will also experience Bowie’s catalog in total darkness via a collaboration with Pitch Black Playback. Using the venue's immersive sound setup, full-album playback sessions are scheduled for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (28 July), Let’s Dance (4 August), and Earthling (11 August), with tickets including access to the main You’re Not Alone show.
Additionally, live music will take over Coal Drops Yard on 13 August to launch King’s Cross Summer Sounds. The free outdoor show features performances from Ashaine White, former Magic Gang member Jack Kaye, and a surprise secret headliner, with each act incorporating a Bowie cover into their set.
On 25 September, Bowie’s long-time friend and collaborator Geoff MacCormack will join co-author Jérôme Soligny and host Alan Edwards to launch their new book, David Bowie Music Lover, exploring the legendary musician's personal record collection.
David Bowie: You’re Not Alone is currently showing daily at Lightroom, with evening screenings extended through January.
