London indie rockers The Howlers have released their new single, “Cold Sweat,” giving fans another taste of what to expect from their forthcoming second studio album, Heavy. Set for release on 9 October 2026 via FLG Records, the upcoming record marks an exciting new chapter for the band following high-profile European shows alongside rock legends Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, and Deep Purple.
“Cold Sweat” opens with atmospheric synths curling around driving guitars before frontman Adam Young’s smooth vocals take center stage above taut, purposeful percussion. Born from a prolonged health scare that left Young facing severe uncertainty, the track turns personal darkness into anthemic indie rock. Young explained that the song captures the narrative of that health struggle and the relationships within it, crafting an honest reflection on pain and resilience.
The single highlights a newly redefined era for The Howlers, who recently transitioned into a dynamic duo featuring Young alongside drummer Toby Richards. Writing and producing alongside longtime collaborator Chris Ostler (Black Honey), the band embraced a streamlined remote workflow before capturing live drums in the studio to preserve a raw, physical energy. While their debut album addressed grief and loss, Heavy explores the tension between desire, impulse, and the cold clarity that follows reckless nights.
To celebrate the release, the band have hit the road for a series of high-profile live performances. Alongside support dates with Black Pistol Fire, The Howlers are joining Wolfmother for major UK shows, including appearances at Bristol’s O2 Academy, London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and Manchester’s O2 Ritz.
Following the arrival of Heavy in October 2026, the duo will launch an extensive UK instore tour across independent record shops including Rough Trade, Banquet Records, and Jacaranda. The celebrations will continue into spring 2027 with a full UK headline tour, bringing their energetic live show to cities such as Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and London.
