Plus Minus Equals: The Block is a new artist-first open-air event series set to launch in Salford this autumn, aiming to reshape how Greater Manchester experiences live music. On Friday 11th September 2026, Mancunian indie-pop group Pale Waves will headline a special live show titled 'KISS ME IN MANCHESTER' at un:titled studio. Taking over the venue's outdoor car park, the unique event will feature an all-star supporting lineup of female and gender-diverse fronted acts, including rock outfit Crawlers, alt-pop artist Nxdia, and South Coast alt-rock trio HotWax.
Designed as an alternative to traditional festival formats, The Block builds each event directly alongside its headliner to create culturally authentic programming. Running from 17:00 to 23:00, the event transforms into an immersive cultural environment featuring independent food, local brands, visual production, and live DJ sets. Pale Waves, fronted by Heather Baron-Gracie alongside Ciara Doran and Charlie Wood, arrive at the launch following European arena tours with Louis Tomlinson and a massive summer festival run.
To champion grassroots talent, Pale Waves and event organizers have launched a citywide open call for an emerging Greater Manchester-based act to join the 3,000-capacity bill. The band will personally select the winning act, who will also receive a guaranteed performance fee. The initiative offers a vital platform for local musicians to share a major stage with established national talent.
