Soft Cell have announced their brand-new single, "In Heaven (When I Dance With You)," a summery and joyful slice of disco-pop. The track serves as the second teaser from their highly anticipated sixth and final studio album, Danceteria, which is set for release on 25 September 2026 via Republic of Music. The uplifting song premiered on Vernon Kay’s BBC Radio 2 show, offering a bittersweet taste of the legendary electronic synth-pop duo's final chapter together.

Marc Almond describes the single as a vibrant celebration of the early 1980s New York club scene, designed to capture the exact, energetic moment when a passionate clubgoer feels compelled to run straight to the dancefloor. The 12-track album, which is available to pre-order, acts as both an affectionate love letter to Manhattan’s legendary nightlife and a deeply moving tribute to the late, great Dave Ball. The pioneering multi-instrumentalist sadly passed away in October 2025, just two days after putting the final touches on this record.

The loss of Ball means that Danceteria will definitively mark the end of the band's illustrious 47-year run. Almond has made it clear that recording new material under the Soft Cell moniker would be entirely impossible without his lifelong musical partner, stating that Ball was half of the band. This final body of work reflects their formative years spending time in legendary Manhattan haunts like the fabled Danceteria club, where they rubbed shoulders with the likes of Andy Warhol and Madonna during a highly creative, gritty era that forever shaped their careers.

Alongside the digital release of the new single, fans can also enjoy a UK-only Luv Foundation remix and the album's title track. With soaring, theatrical vocals from Almond laid over Ball's characteristically dark, cinematic minor-chord arrangements, the upcoming album represents a grand, playful, and poetic farewell to one of Britain’s most influential and boundary-pushing musical forces.
