The Script have unveiled their brand-new single, “The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall,” keeping the momentum flying ahead of their upcoming studio album. Slated for release on August 14th, the new record, titled The User’s Guide To Being Human, was recorded in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles. For the new material, frontman Danny O’Donoghue reunited with longtime collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner, and Jimbo Barry—the powerhouse creative team behind the band's massive global hits “Hall Of Fame,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” and “Breakeven.”
The new single blends the band’s signature talent for stadium-sized, singalong choruses with the anthemic swagger of classic indie-rock. Serving as a towering tribute to nostalgia and lifelong friendship, the track was directly inspired by the communal joy surrounding the recent Oasis reunion concerts. The lyrics tell the story of old friends who fell out back in 1993 and unexpectedly cross paths at an Oasis gig over thirty years later. O’Donoghue noted that seeing the Gallagher brothers reconcile put the idea of forgiveness back into the zeitgeist, proving that any relationship can be mended.
The track follows the album's lead single, “Man In The Arena,” which quickly earned a spot on the Radio 2 A-list. Both songs highlight a brilliant new era for the Irish pop-rock mainstays, who have already achieved six Number 1 albums in the UK, eight in Ireland, and 14 billion streams worldwide.
The band is currently performing to massive crowds across UK and Ireland stadiums as special guests to Take That, followed by major outdoor dates alongside Luke Combs, including a historic show at Slane Castle. In late October, the trio will kick off a major headline arena tour in support of The User’s Guide To Being Human, starting with a two-night stand at Dublin's 3Arena. The tour will travel through major UK cities, including London's The O2 and Manchester's Co-op Live, before heading across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Pre-orders for the album are available now.
