Iron Maiden will complete their upcoming concert film at the hallowed grounds of Knebworth next weekend during EDDFEST, a once-in-a-lifetime celebration marking the legendary band's 50th anniversary. The decision to film the historic weekend follows a chaotic turn of events at their Paris show on June 22. Mid-way through their set at the La Defense Arena, a total power cut plunged the stadium into darkness. While power was restored, strict local curfews prevented the heavy metal icons from performing their three-song encore.
Band founder Steve Harris confirmed that the group will finish what they started in France at Knebworth on July 10 and 11, incorporating the UK audience into the cinematic release. Frontman Bruce Dickinson added that the film will combine the Paris footage with amazing new moments from the upcoming UK festival. The filmed performance will commemorate the band's massive Run For Your Lives world tour, which is currently at its midpoint.
Alongside the high-profile filming announcement, organizers have revealed exclusive details regarding the on-site Infinite Dreams Museum. Based on last year's pictorial book, the interactive exhibit will allow fans to get close to over 50 historic items. Major pieces on display will include the iconic pharaoh’s head from the World Slavery Tour, Eddie’s ray-gun from 1986, the X-Factor electric chair, and personal band mementos dating back to the Paul Di’Anno era. Manager Rod Smallwood teased that the archive was built by raiding warehouses, offices, and the musicians' own homes.
The EDDFEST weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon with camping, opening up the dedicated 'Maidenville' on-site village. Friday attendees will enjoy live performances from Blaze Bayley and Gypsy's Kiss, alongside Eddie's Dive Bar and an Unfair Funfair. Saturday ticket holders will gain access ahead of the main arena opening, which features an exceptional supporting line-up before the headlining set. Limited remaining tickets can be found on the official event website.
