London Records is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bananarama’s seminal third studio album, True Confessions, with a comprehensive suite of remastered physical reissues. Set for release on August 28, 2026, the campaign honors the exact moment the British trio transitioned from DIY pop icons into global MTV superstars.
Originally released in 1986, True Confessions became the band's most commercially successful record, achieving gold status in the US and platinum in Canada. The album's crowning achievement was "Venus," a high-energy reimagining of the 1969 Shocking Blue track produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. The single rocketed to number one in six countries, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 and launching a historic run that eventually earned the group a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
To mark four decades of the landmark release, London Records is offering a variety of expanded formats. For the first time, all three original band members—Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, and Siobhan Fahey—have reunited to sign limited-edition individual CDs. Available exclusively through the official Bananarama store, these special editions feature unique artwork, personal audio reflections from each member, and a secret bonus track.
The anniversary lineup also includes the album's first-ever picture disc vinyl, a limited transparent red vinyl edition, and a deluxe 3CD box set. The expanded formats contain b-sides, rare archive material, and classic 1986 extended dance mixes alongside brand-new 2026 reworks by producers Richard X, The Alias, and Luke Mornay. A contemporary 2026 remix of "Venus" by Richard X has been released digitally ahead of the physical street date.
