The Specials, indisputably one of the most influential and politically important bands to emerge from the United Kingdom, are set to release their definitive final album, Live From The Cathedral, on July 10, 2026. The poignant release serves as a monumental celebration of the legendary 2-Tone icons and acts as a fitting posthumous tribute to their late, brilliant frontman Terry Hall, who passed away in 2022.

The live album masterfully captures the raw, kinetic excitement of the band’s historic four-night homecoming residency performed inside the open-air ruins of Coventry Cathedral in July 2019. Selling over 8,000 tickets across the completely sold-out run, the momentous performances marked the ultimate live culmination of the band's forty-year career. The striking cover art for the project was custom-penned by acclaimed visual artist, activist, and lifelong fan Shepard Fairey, who is globally recognized for his iconic Barack Obama HOPE portrait.

Reflecting on the unique weight of the shows, remaining band members Lynval Golding and Horace Panter shared that the four nights at the historic cathedral felt like a spiritual homecoming. They noted that the concerts represented a profound, almost religious connection between the band, their city, and their dedicated fanbase. The musicians emphasized that these specific recordings now stand as a vital, highly emotional celebration of their time together.

The definitive tracklist boasts 24 signature anthems, spanning generational classics like "A Message to You Rudy", "Too Much Too Young", and "Ghost Town". While standard physical formats will highlight a curated "best of" audio selection across the residency, a specialized direct-to-consumer 6CD boxset will offer complete individual recordings from three distinct nights.

The luxury physical packages will include high-end gatefold vinyl options, extensive lyric booklets, and dedicated fan-submitted imagery from the legendary 2019 concerts. This definitive live archival collection is available for pre-order ahead of its official mid-summer release.
