British rock mainstays Embrace are on the verge of releasing their ninth studio album, Avalanche. Due out on June 12th via Cooking Vinyl, the band has shared a glimpse of the upcoming record with the release of their latest single, "Up In Your Feelings." The atmospheric track stomps its way through a crunch of guitars and pining keyboards to tell a dark story of obsession and emotional fixation.
Lead singer Danny McNamara described the track as one of the darkest on the album, capturing the obsessive aftermath of a broken relationship where a person replays memories over and over despite the pain. Musically, the band prioritized human feel over studio perfection, aiming for a raw, unpolished sound that mirrors the emotional vulnerability of the lyrics.
The single follows previously released tracks "Road To Nowhere," which found immediate support on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2, and the euphoric "Stop." According to McNamara, Avalanche was built around the concept that real joy exists in small, fleeting moments rather than major achievements. The record explores themes of fragility, acceptance, and contradiction, asking more questions than it answers.
For over three decades, the five-piece lineup has remained a vital fixture of the British music scene, selling more than two million albums worldwide. To celebrate their 30-year milestone, the band has lined up an incredibly busy year that includes a spoken-word theatre tour detailing their history, a new book, and an extensive live calendar.
A series of intimate outstore release shows will kick off next week, visiting venues in Kingston, Oxford, and Liverpool.
Embrace will also play a special 60-minute set at Bradford’s Odsal Stadium on June 14th right before the Bradford Bulls rugby match. This performance follows a sold-out date at the Halifax Piece Hall, serving as a massive warm-up ahead of a major 30th-anniversary headline tour across the UK this November, which concludes with a landmark show at London’s Roundhouse.
