Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, one of the UK’s most iconic grassroots music venues, is celebrating a period of sustained success. The legendary space is reporting increased ticket sales and strong attendance figures, bucking wider industry trends even during traditionally quieter periods for the live music sector.

Known for launching globally renowned artists such as Oasis and Lewis Capaldi, as well as supporting the early careers of pop sensations like Olivia Dean, the venue remains a cornerstone of the Scottish live music scene. Recent figures show a notable lift in audience numbers across live events, reflecting both the venue’s enduring reputation and its ability to connect with multiple generations of music fans.

Crucially, the venue has seen growth during off-peak seasons, a time when many independent live music spaces typically experience less footfall. From January to March 2026, ticket sales increased by 2% compared to the previous quarter, demonstrating immense resilience and adaptability in a challenging economic climate.

General Manager Davie Millar attributes the positive momentum to high-quality, diverse lineups and an immersive atmosphere that keeps people coming back, whether for a sold-out headline show or a midweek discovery gig.

The venue's strategic focus on consistent year-round programming is paying off. The month-long King Tut’s New Year’s Revolution festival saw ticket sales increase by 8% in 2026 compared to 2025, boasting an overall 92% attendance rate. Bar sales also rose by 9%, highlighting a shift where music fans increasingly seek out live experiences during the winter months.

Looking ahead, the venue is preparing for King Tut’s Summer Nights 2026, which will host over 100 artists across seven weeks starting Thursday, July 9. The festival has historically been a launchpad for major acts, with past lineups featuring The Snuts, Joesef, and Katie Gregson-Macleod. Plans are also already underway for the 2027 winter edition. By continuously championing breakthrough talent across genres, King Tut’s is poised to remain at the absolute forefront of the UK live music landscape.
