Irish pop-rock juggernauts The Script have officially entered a brand new creative era with the announcement of their upcoming studio album, The User's Guide To Being Human, set for global release on August 14, 2026. To mark the announcement, the band has shared the record's lead single, "Man In The Arena," alongside details of a massive arena tour spanning the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
The forthcoming album serves as the highly anticipated follow-up to 2024’s Satellites, a deeply emotional project that saw frontman Danny O’Donoghue processing the immense grief of losing his longtime bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan in 2023. Following a poignant global arena circuit dedicated to Sheehan's memory, O'Donoghue returned to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose. Within a week of wrapping the tour, he began writing in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, alongside veteran hit-making collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner, and Jimbo Barry—the team behind legendary hits like "Hall Of Fame" and "Breakeven."
The lead single, "Man In The Arena," delivers a skyscraping anthem built on a hard-hitting R&B groove that explodes into a classic stadium-sized chorus. The track's themes of resilience and vulnerability are partially inspired by Theodore Roosevelt's famous "Man in the Arena" speech, which honors the bravery of individuals who step into the spotlight rather than criticizing from the sidelines. O'Donoghue noted that the album's title reflects a desire to remind listeners of the full spectrum of emotions that define the human experience.
With an astonishing career milestone of six UK and eight Irish number-one albums, exceeding 14 billion streams worldwide, The Script remain one of the most successful pop-rock acts of the generation. Fans who pre-order the album via the official artist store will gain early access to a ticket pre-sale opening on May 27, ahead of the general sale on May 29. Before kicking off their headline arena tour in October, the band will perform to over one million fans this summer as special guests for Take That and country star Luke Combs.
