Multi-platinum singer-songwriter LP (they/them) has made a triumphant return to the spotlight with the release of their sun-drenched new single, "Shelly." The upbeat track, co-written by LP alongside longtime collaborators Mike Del Rio and PJ Bianco, arrives just in time for summer, pairing the artist's signature soaring vocals with a sense of "sonic sunshine."
The inspiration for the single came from a spontaneous moment of connection. "The first single is a real-life song about a real-life friend named Shelly," LP explains. "I was in the studio with my producer when I got a call from Shelly to catch up, and it sparked a whole story. It’s the first time I’ve done such an intimate portrait of a friend in a song."
Coinciding with the new music, LP has announced a massive 2026 worldwide tour that serves a dual purpose. While the shows will feature new material from their upcoming album, the tour also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the iconic album Lost on You. To honor the milestone, LP will perform a special set featuring the landmark album in its entirety.
Since becoming a global phenomenon in 2017, the title track "Lost on You" has surpassed one billion streams on Spotify and reached #1 in 18 countries. With a career that began penning hits for pop giants like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera, LP has since amassed over three billion total streams and a reputation for explosive, captivating live performances.
The 2026 tour is an extensive run covering Europe and North America, including major UK stops at the O2 Brixton Academy in London and the Manchester Apollo this November. The journey kicks off in Mexico this May before hitting summer festivals across the continent, including Heartland in Denmark and Open’er in Poland.
Tickets for the general public go on sale on Friday, May 8 at 10 AM local time. Fans can register for presale access and view the full list of international dates at the artist's official website, iamlp.com. With more news expected soon, this anniversary year looks to be one of LP's most significant yet.
