One of the UK’s most enduring musical forces, Editors, have officially returned with their brand-new single, "Call It In," released via Play It Again Sam. The track marks the band’s first original material since their 2022 album EBM and serves as a precursor to an extensive headline tour across the UK, Ireland, and Europe scheduled for early 2027.

"Call It In" emerged from intensive studio sessions in rural Gloucestershire during the summer of 2025. Moving away from the industrial electronic textures of their previous work, the band utilized a more traditional setup, working collectively in a single room to craft their new sound. Frontman Tom Smith describes the single as a poignant exploration of human connection. "It’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread," Smith explains. "Finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life."

The single is accompanied by a striking official video directed by the band’s own guitarist, Justin Lockey, further cementing the group's reputation for visual storytelling.

Ahead of their 2027 headline run, Editors have a packed summer 2026 schedule, including high-profile festival slots at Pinkpop in the Netherlands and Splendour in Nottingham. Notably, the band will also perform a special show on July 9 to open The Warehouse at Villa Park, a brand-new venue in Birmingham.

The 2027 headline tour will see the band traverse the European continent through January and February, visiting cities such as Paris, Madrid, Berlin, and Copenhagen. The UK and Ireland leg kicks off on February 28 at Dublin’s Vicar St, with stops at Manchester’s O2 Apollo and London’s O2 Academy Brixton, before concluding in Southampton on March 12.

With seven studio albums behind them, Editors continue to evolve while remaining a cherished fixture of the alternative scene. "Call It In" signals a confident new chapter for the band, blending their signature brooding atmosphere with a renewed sense of organic collaboration.
