Brighton-based duo CQ Wrestling have released their poignant new single, "Finish Line," the second track to be revealed from their highly anticipated sophomore album, Resistance. Arriving via Truth Records on May 22, 2026, the album marks a significant creative and personal evolution for the band formerly known as Chappaqua Wrestling.
The new track follows the success of lead single "Pacifico," which dominated the airwaves this spring with support from Radio X, BBC Radio 1, and BBC 6 Music. While its predecessor leaned into heavyweight riffs, "Finish Line" showcases a different side of the band’s artistry, utilizing emotive guitar atmospherics and a steady, swelling build.
For bandmates Jake Mac and Charlie Woods, the song is deeply rooted in a period of intense personal upheaval. The track serves as a tribute to Jake’s father, Gavin, the band’s original manager and champion, whose sudden passing derailed the group during a period of professional transition.
"‘Finish Line’ is a song about living fully and not being afraid," the band shared. "It draws on philosophy, loss, and resilience. We hope this song is a celebration of life and those we’ve lost."
The upcoming album, Resistance, was forged during what the duo describes as a "year of complete mayhem." Despite the success of their debut, Plus Ultra, the pair found themselves navigating grief and the modern pressures of the music industry. The record serves as a testament to their resolve to keep fighting through bleak times and finding joy in the darkness.
To celebrate the release, CQ Wrestling is embarking on an extensive UK headline tour. The run kicks off this week at the Beautiful Ones Festival in Brighton, followed by a dense schedule of club dates in May and June, including stops in York, Sheffield, and Edinburgh. The tour will culminate in a series of major headline shows this October, visiting iconic venues such as The Dome in London and the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds.
Tickets for all dates are on sale now, and Resistance is available for pre-order ahead of its May 22 debut.
