The global epicenter of creativity and convergence has officially set its sights on the future. South by Southwest® (SXSW®) has announced that its 2027 event will return to downtown Austin, Texas, from March 13–21, 2027.
As a premier destination for the world's most innovative minds, the 2027 dates are strategically designed to foster cross-industry collaboration. The week-long marathon will once again unite leaders from the fields of education, technology, film, television, music, and comedy to explore the ideas shaping the next decade.
The 2027 installment features a slightly adjusted timeline to maximize discovery. SXSW EDU will kick off the festivities on Saturday, March 13, running through Tuesday, March 16. Notably, this year’s education-focused track will include a second "Crossover Day," allowing for deeper integration between educators and the broader creative community.
Starting Monday, March 15, the city will explode into the full SXSW Conferences & Festivals experience:
SXSW Innovation: Six days of future-focused programming running through March 20.
SXSW Music: A seven-day gauntlet of showcases and artist workshops through March 21.
SXSW Film & TV: Premiering its high-profile Opening Night Film on March 15, followed by a week of red carpets and screenings.
SXSW Comedy: Bringing laughter to the final stretch of the week starting Wednesday, March 17.
“SXSW continues to be the place where creative industries converge and new ideas take shape,” said Greg Rosenbaum, SVP of Programming. “In 2027, we’re bringing our global community together for another week of discovery and collaboration.”
For those looking to transition from attendee to participant, the road to Austin begins this summer. The famous PanelPicker®, which allows the community to vote on conference sessions, officially opens on June 23, 2026. This is also the date that applications for SXSW Pitch and Official Artist status will go live, with Film & TV submissions following in July.
