The sophisticated sounds of syncopation are returning to Southwest London this spring. World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens has announced the 2026 return of its seasonal concert series, Jazz in the Gardens, transforming Nine Elms and Battersea into a premier destination for live music from Friday, 1 May to Friday, 17 July.
The series kicks off with a high-profile album launch from saxophonist Trish Clowes and her band MY IRIS. Over the following ten weeks, the intimate venue will host a diverse array of talent, ranging from emerging London stars to global jazz icons. Highlights include a visit from Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Jean Toussaint, formerly of Art Blakey’s legendary Jazz Messengers, and the powerful alto sounds of Tony Kofi.
The season concludes with a milestone event on July 17: a 60th Birthday Concert for Julian Joseph. Hailed as one of the finest pianists of his generation, Joseph will perform a mix of timeless jazz standards and original compositions, marking a fitting finale to the summer series.
Jazz in the Gardens is more than just a series of Friday night shows; it is a community-wide celebration. The Jazz in the Gardens Trail and various café concerts will bring free live music to the streets of Nine Elms and Battersea. Local organizations are even invited to participate in the trail to help create an immersive musical journey across the neighborhood.
Every ticket purchased for the series serves a dual purpose. While audiences enjoy world-class performances in a boutique setting, they are also supporting the World Heart Beat Music Academy. Proceeds benefit the charity’s bursary program, which provides music education to talented young people facing financial or social barriers.
From the multilingual improvisations of the Filomena Campus Quartet to the genre-bending sounds of Zeeks and the Brotherhood, the 2026 program promises a vibrant exploration of jazz’s past and future.
