A Genre-Blurring Vision
The aptly named EP is a self-produced collection that showcases McIntosh’s ability to traverse varied musical forms, from New Wave and pure pop to soulful R&B. Ingeniously weaving themes of romance, resilience, and reflection, the Berklee College of Music student has crafted a sound that is both incandescent and deeply personal.
“I worked so hard on this with my friends from school,” McIntosh shared. “I hope people enjoy the songs as much as I enjoyed making them!” Her creative journey—from piano lessons at age five to experimenting in Brooklyn studios—has culminated in a laser-guided vision that The Riff describes as having "melodic immediacy with a sense of luscious control."
Leading the Way with "Lets Me Down"
The road to the EP is paved by her uplifting new single, "
Lets Me Down." Written and produced by McIntosh herself, the track follows a string of successful 2026 releases, including the acclaimed "Just Friends" and "Are You Sorry." These milestones have already amassed over 25,000 worldwide streams, drawing praise from The Divine Magazine for her "restrained honesty."
From Boston to Valencia and Beyond
McIntosh’s growth as an artist was accelerated by her time at Berklee and a transformative study abroad year in Valencia, Spain. These experiences provided a global perspective that is evident in her sophisticated songcraft. Rusty Harmon, founder of Vere Music, expressed his pride in her trajectory: “Vere is thrilled to accompany Mia as she solidifies her position as a rising singer-songwriter.”
Fans can catch McIntosh live this summer as part of the Berklee “Summer in the City” concert series in Boston. As she steps into this new chapter, McIntosh remains focused on her core mission: “I want to inspire people to talk about what’s going on in their own lives and tell their own stories.”
