In a world spinning toward a "cliff edge," alternative quartet Daytime TV have returned with a sonic intervention. Their pounding new single, “Pause,” released March 25, 2026, serves as a visceral response to modern turbulence and a bold reclamation of individual identity.
Marking their first release since signing to the legendary Marshall Records in its 10th anniversary year, "Pause" signals a definitive evolution for the band. The track fuses their trademark "arena-ready ambition" with a darker, electronic pulse inspired by the relentless energy of 90s rave and acts like The Prodigy.
The song was a high-profile collaboration, written by frontman Will Irvine and guitarist John Caddick alongside Larry Hibbitt (Nothing But Thieves), and brought to life by acclaimed producer Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Foals). “Pete really understood the assignment of helping us make something bold and different,” said Caddick.
For Irvine, the track is deeply personal, forged during a period of intense global and personal chaos, including his battle with serious illness. “Everything felt so prescribed and inescapable and I needed to reclaim who I was,” Irvine explains. “‘Pause’ is about finding a way to fully let go and unearth your inner power amongst all the noise.”
The single is accompanied by a "chaotic, glitchy and cerebral" music video directed by Matt Chandler, which explores an "Americana multiverse-motel." Chandler noted that the "lawless" style of the video was designed to match the track's disordered intensity.
Building on the momentum of standout performances at BST Hyde Park and Mad Cool Festival, Daytime TV are no longer merely rising stars. With "Pause," they have positioned themselves as the sonic conscience of a generation feeling the weight of 2026. As Irvine puts it, the music is “freeing, unapologetic, and exactly what we need.”
"Pause" is available to stream now, with the official music video premiering tonight at 8:00 PM.
