The Claypool Lennon Delirium have unleashed “Meat Machines,” the latest single from their highly anticipated upcoming album, The Great Parrot-Ox and the Golden Egg of Empathy. Due for release on May 1st via ATO Records, the track arrives alongside a sprawling new visualizer that further builds out the project’s immersive, comic-book inspired universe.
Driven by an ominous, wiry psych-prog tension, “Meat Machines” finds Les Claypool and Sean Ono Lennon exploring the thin line between human agency and technological automation. The song serves as a pointed meditation on whether humanity is destined to be reduced to mere biological function.
“Some people think humans are just biological machines,” Lennon shared regarding the track's lyrical inspiration. “They think free will is a hallucination and we’re destined to be replaced by robots... Some of us think we still have a choice. We believe we can shape our own destiny, because we know we are more than just ‘Meat Machines.’”
The single is a standout from the duo's most ambitious project to date. Recorded between Claypool’s Rancho Relaxo and Lennon’s The Farm, the album is described by Lennon as a “cautionary tale of what could be in store for humanity if we continue to favor machines over men.” To match this expansive narrative, the physical 2-LP edition features a 24-page companion comic book created with collaborator Rich Ragsdale.
Fans won't have to wait long to see the new material live. Following the album's release, the duo will embark on the Claypool Gold 2026 Tour. This massive "coast-to-coast" run begins on May 20th and features a triple-threat lineup of Primus, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The tour offers a rare opportunity to see Lennon and Claypool sharing the stage across multiple projects in a single evening.
