The worlds of rock and sport are set to collide this autumn as Texas has been confirmed as the headline act for Legends of Football 2026. The iconic Scottish band will take to the stage on Monday 5 October 2026 at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House to celebrate the careers of two modern sporting greats: Thierry Henry and Karen Carney.

Celebrating Footballing Royalty

This year’s gala honors a duo with staggering international pedigrees. Thierry Henry, immortalized at Arsenal with 175 Premier League goals, is joined by Lioness stalwart Karen Carney OBE. Carney’s 144 England caps make her the third most-capped player in the nation's history, cementing her legacy as a pioneer of the women’s game.

Frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri expressed her excitement for the event:

"I’m happy to be part of Legends of Football 2026, where we’re going to play and celebrate my friends Thierry Henry and Kaz Carney. I hope everybody is ready to party."

A Soundtrack of Success

Formed in Glasgow in 1986, Texas has remained a pillar of British music for nearly four decades. Led by Spiteri’s unmistakable vocals, the band has:

Sold over 40 million records worldwide.

Achieved 13 UK Top 10 singles and three No. 1 albums.

Produced timeless hits such as "Say What You Want," "Halo," and "Black Eyed Boy."

The performance follows a landmark period for the band; in 2024, Spiteri was named a Chevalier of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and Texas received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.

Supporting a Vital Cause

Beyond the stardom, the evening serves as the premier fundraiser for Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity. Over the past 25 years, Legends of Football has raised more than £9 million to help those living with life-limiting illnesses and social isolation find a voice through the power of music.
