For the first time in the festival’s history, New Zealand has been named the official focus country for The Great Escape 2026. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Brighton-based showcase for emerging talent will host a massive Kiwi takeover on Thursday, 14 May, at the iconic venue Patterns.
Presented by the New Zealand Music Commission and Live Nation New Zealand, the "New Zealand @ TGE" showcase will run from 12 pm to 4 pm, featuring ten of the most exciting artists currently emerging from Aotearoa’s vibrant scene.
A Global Platform for Kiwi Talent
New Zealand’s musical legacy is well-established, with global icons like Lorde, Neil Finn, and Flight of the Conchords paving the way. This year’s focus aims to introduce the next generation of innovators to the international industry.
Alan Holt of the NZ Music Commission expressed his excitement, noting that the festival has consistently been a "joy" for networking and discovery. Mark Kneebone, MD of Live Nation New Zealand, added that the partnership is a "massive opportunity to give Kiwi talent a global platform" while inspiring the local industry back home.
