The multi-dimensional creative collective Puscifer—featuring Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell, and Carina Round—is officially back. With their first new album in five years, Normal Isn’t, set for release this Friday, February 6, the band is preparing to bring their signature blend of "sound, story, and spectacle" back to the global stage.
Known for transforming concerts into theatrical "insane asylums," Puscifer has spent the last decade selling out legendary venues and headlining major festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo. The 2026 live cycle follows the massive success of their curated touring festival, Sessanta, where the band fine-tuned the aggressive, post-punk energy found on the new record while on the road.
"We’re definitely leaning into our early influences," Keenan shares regarding the band's current direction. "It’s the place where goth meets punk." Fans can expect the upcoming tour to reflect this darker, guitar-driven territory, moving away from purely electronic setups toward a raw, "aggressive" live sound bolstered by the Ancient Gauntlet-style grit of co-producer Mat Mitchell’s riffs.
The 2026 performance roster is expected to feature a heavy-hitting live lineup, including Greg Edwards (Failure/LUNA) on bass, alongside drummers Gunnar Olsen and Sarah Jones. As with any Puscifer tour, the music is only half the story; fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the band's beloved (mis)characters, including Billy D, Hildy Berger, and Special Agent Dick Merkin, who often anchor the group's highly choreographed, satirical stage shows.
With Normal Isn't already available for pre-order in various limited-edition vinyl formats, the band is expected to announce a full slate of international tour dates shortly after the album drops. After soundtracking the cultural zeitgeist from Yellowstone to late-night TV, Puscifer’s return to the road promises to be a symbiotic explosion of "demented" creativity that proves, as Keenan puts it, "what we see around us does not appear normal."
