The seminal architects of alternative country, The Long Ryders, have officially announced their return to the spotlight with a brand-new studio album, High Noon Hymns. Set for a UK and international release on 13 March 2026 via Cherry Red Records, the record marks a triumphant follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2019 outing, September November.

A Legacy Refined

Produced by long-time collaborator Ed Stasium—the legendary desk-man behind the Ramones and Motörhead—High Noon Hymns finds the band distilling over 40 years of songwriting craft. Founding member Sid Griffin describes the 14-track collection as "two-thirds the distilled alt-country genre we helped found back in the 1980s, one third Paisley Underground adventurism, with a dash of our own crazed soulfulness."

The album arrives during a period of resilience for the band. Following the passing of bassist Tom Stevens, duties on the new record are shared by Murry Hammond (Old 97s) and the band’s own Stephen McCarthy. The recordings also feature notable guest appearances from punk legend DJ Bonebrake (X) on vibes and bluegrass prodigy Wyatt Ellis.

Why It Matters to UK Fans

Since their formation in Los Angeles in the early '80s, The Long Ryders have maintained a deep-rooted connection with the UK music scene. Their blend of Gram Parsons-style country and '77 London punk energy famously pre-dated the Americana movement by a decade. UK listeners will find the new material continues that tradition, recorded in California but infused with the global perspective of a band that has spent years touring British venues.

Availability

British fans can secure the album in multiple formats starting 13 March 2026:

Double Vinyl: For the audiophile experience across four sides.

CD & Digital: Available for streaming and download on all major platforms.

With tracks like "Four Winters Away" and "A Hymn For The City Of Angels," High Noon Hymns promises to be a definitive statement of continuity and renewal for a band that continues to shape the roots-rock landscape.
