GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter and producer Charlotte Day Wilson has kicked off 2026 by deepening her footprint in the world of modern soul and alternative R&B. Released via Stone Woman Music and XL Recordings, her latest single, "Lean," features a collaboration with fellow Canadian multi-instrumentalist Saya Gray, marking a bold step forward in Wilson’s sonic evolution.

A Study in Addictive Passion

"Lean" is an emotionally resonant track that explores the obsessive, all-consuming nature of love. Built around Wilson’s signature commanding vocals, the production shifts from intimate stillness to warped, "sticky" textures. The track follows the momentum of her late-2025 singles "Selfish" and "High Road," both of which were co-written and co-produced with the creative team of Saya Gray, Ace G, and Braden Sauder.

These new releases signal a shift toward a more raw and ecstatic sound, pairing haunting lyricism with the tender precision that has made Wilson a critical darling since her 2016 breakout EP, CDW.

A Visionary Recognized

The release of "Lean" comes on the heels of a massive year for the artist. In late 2025, Wilson was honored with the Innovator Award at the Billboard Canada Women in Music ceremony. It was a historic moment, as the award was presented in Canada for the first time—a fitting tribute to an artist whose production style has influenced icons like Drake, John Mayer, and James Blake, all of whom have sampled her work.

Intimacy and Boundless Creativity

Over the last decade, through her debut album Alpha (2021) and the widely acclaimed Cyan Blue (2024), Wilson has cemented herself as a "touchstone artist" for a new generation. After concluding a major tour with Giveon in November, Wilson is now stepping fully into an era defined by what she describes as her "purest expression of self to date."

With "Lean," she proves that her ability to bend genres and capture deep emotional truths remains sharper than ever.
