Internationally acclaimed rock artist and multiple GRAMMY® Award nominee YUNGBLUD has released a stripped-back acoustic version of his powerful track, “Zombie,” which is currently nominated for Best Rock Song at the upcoming 68th Annual GRAMMY® Awards.
Widely regarded as one of his most deeply personal releases, "Zombie" was written for his late grandmother, who struggled with alcoholism. This new acoustic rendition, which highlights the song's profound songwriting and vulnerability, is accompanied by an intimate music video directed by Jesse Jo Stark.
Speaking about the inspiration for the track, YUNGBLUD explained: “The song was written initially about my grandmother going through serious injury and trauma, leading her to become a different person to who she was before. It’s about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.”
The new release follows a massive year for the British star, who is nominated across all three rock categories at the 2026 GRAMMY® Awards, including Best Rock Album for IDOLS and Best Rock Performance for his cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes.”
Further solidifying his breakout year, YUNGBLUD earned his second UK Number 1 album of 2025 with One More Time, his collaborative EP with legendary band Aerosmith. The EP also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart in the States, marking a Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200.
After a successful North American headline tour this past year, YUNGBLUD has confirmed he will return for a 24-date run in 2026, alongside his already sold-out 2026 UK arena tour in April. The new acoustic version of "Zombie" is available worldwide today.
