UK artist Kwun follows the soulful anthem ‘Sovereignty’ with ‘Cuíca’ — an exhilarating instrumental audio-visual experience, named after the Brazilian friction drum that features prominently on the track. Out 28 November, the single and video are being released simultaneously as part of a fully immersive experience.
‘Cuíca’ fuses jazz, funk, Afrobeat-inspired grooves, and electronica into a high-energy journey driven by rhythm, colour, and movement. Filmed in the jungles of Tulum, Mexico, the accompanying visualiser captures the track’s ecstatic-dance energy — immersive, raw, and alive.
A departure from Kwun’s previous vocal-led singles, ‘Cuíca’ showcases his versatility, imagination, and boundary-defying musical spirit, offering a glimpse of the expansive sounds to come on his forthcoming album.
Mixed by Sam Wheat (Amy Winehouse, Public Enemy, The Rolling Stones) and mastered by Andy ‘Hippy’ Baldwin (Oasis, Blur, Stormzy), the track also features musicians whose credits include Michael Jackson, George Clinton and Taylor Swift.
With its vibrant fusion of styles and visuals grounded in nature, ‘Cuíca’ is both a celebration of rhythm and a statement of creative freedom.
