Holly Humberstone has returned with the dramatic new single, “Die Happy,” a track that plunges listeners into a dark, intoxicating fairytale of all-consuming love. The single, accompanied by a compelling visualiser directed by Silken Weinberg (known for work with Ethel Cain), heralds an exciting new chapter for the acclaimed UK songwriter.

A Dangerous Kind of Love

“Die Happy” explores the intoxicating pull of a reckless love, one so passionate it teeters on the edge of danger. Holly drew inspiration from gothic literature like The Bloody Chamber and Dracula, aiming to capture the feeling of "throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly."

"I wanted to show the feeling of throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly," Holly notes. "There is danger in love." The song’s atmospheric and cinematic sound maintains her signature intimacy while introducing a striking new thematic depth.

Stepping Into a New Season

Since her breakthrough five years ago with the EP Falling Asleep At The Wheel, Holly has established herself as one of the UK’s most vital young artists. Her vivid, intimate storytelling has earned her high praise, including a BRIT Rising Star Award in 2022 and a Top #3 critically acclaimed debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black, in 2023. She has graced major stages globally, from Glastonbury and Lollapalooza to supporting Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium.

Turning 25 marked a significant transition for Holly, a moment of finding deeper stability and agency after the turbulence captured in her debut album. While Paint My Bedroom Black explored dislocation, this new work reflects a growing understanding that pleasure and pain are intertwined. This sense of grounded perspective informs the new single, as she continues to articulate the quiet complexities of young adulthood with unflinching honesty.

Fans will get to experience this new music live as Holly joins Sam Fender on his Australian tour this winter, alongside a run of her own headline dates, marking the first time she has unveiled new material in two years. With "Die Happy," Holly Humberstone proves once again why she is one of the most luminous and captivating voices of her generation.
