UK Artist Kwun returns with new single ‘
Sovereignty’, out now — a multi-genre track with soul and gospel influences about freedom and transformation.
Kwun returns with his first release since 2023, launching the single ‘Sovereignty’ on October 17, 2025. The track sets the stage for his long-anticipated debut album, now due in early 2026. Far from a setback, the wait has allowed the record to evolve into a more expansive and daring vision — one that reflects the times we are living in.
‘Sovereignty’ captures the sense of a world at a crossroads: charged, urgent, yet full of possibility. With its soul-gospel influences, soaring vocal performances and an anthemic gospel-choir climax, the song speaks of awakening, freedom and collective transformation, celebrating the choice of love over fear. It’s a rallying call, but also a song of celebration — a reminder that, even in turbulent times, this could be “the greatest time for us all.”
The single features powerhouse vocalists Fawziyya Heart and Angelica Allen, alongside Kwun’s own vocals. On rhythm are Nigel Rivers (Erykah Badu’s one-time touring bassist) and Jordan Perlson (Grammy-nominated drummer whose credits include Snarky Puppy).
Recorded in 432 Hz tuning — often described as more resonant with the natural world — the track has a quality that is both uplifting and grounding. Produced by Kwun, mixed by acclaimed engineer Sam Wheat (Amy Winehouse, Public Enemy, The Rolling Stones) and mastered by Andy “Hippy” Baldwin (Oasis, Blur, Stormzy), Sovereignty fuses diverse musical influences into something contemporary yet timeless.
The release is accompanied by a striking lyric video, filmed across locations from Mexico to the Himalayas, visually reflecting the global spirit of the song.
The release marks a turning point for Kwun as an artist. The video for his debut single ‘Supernatural’ picked up multiple awards, while follow-up singles ‘Ancient Ageless & True’ and ‘Happiness, Part 2’ further established him as an eclectic artist who works seamlessly across genres. With ‘Sovereignty’, he takes things further, stepping into music that feels bolder, more urgent and more alive than ever. It’s the opening statement of a new chapter, one that isn’t just about inspiration, but about lifting people up and bringing them together.
