Lucha VaVOOM, the notorious Mexican wrestling, comedy, and burlesque extravaganza born in Los Angeles, is finally making its UK debut on Saturday, November 8th, at The Troxy in London. Bolstering the already bonkers line-up of Luchadors and electrifying performers is the inclusion of the Jim Jones All Stars, marking a major musical draw for the night.
The All Stars is the latest project from garage rock legend Jim Jones, best known for his work with Thee Hypnotics and the high-octane fury of The Jim Jones Revue. Formed during the pandemic, the new band promises a "bubbling swamp curse of unholy rhythm," blending Jones's signature intensity with new elements.
The line-up features former Jim Jones Revue members Gavin Jay and Elliot Mortimer, alongside powerhouse drummer Chris Ellul (The Heavy), veteran punk guitarist Carlton Mounsher, and a full horn section. The band recently made a pilgrimage to the real crossroads in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and recorded their new material in Memphis, Tennessee, promising a sound rooted in rock history and raw energy.
The Jim Jones All Stars joins a stacked bill that includes celebrated musical trio Hot Wax, award-winning comedy double act Max & Ivan, and occult comedian Andrew O’Neill. Between the thundering Lucha Libre matches—featuring Mexican masked wrestlers like Cara Noir and Galeno Del Mal—audiences will be treated to dazzling acts from across the globe, including the aerialist Danny Ash and Guinness World Record-holding hula-hooper Amazi.
Lucha VaVOOM promises an explosion of expertise and absurdity, bringing its anything-can-happen energy to the UK for the first time. Tickets are available now.
