UK superstar Tinie Tempah has released his follow-up single, “Closer,” a high-octane track that merges the smooth flow of liquid Drum & Bass with the raw intensity of jungle music. Released via Imhotep Records / Believe, the track features rising vocalist Abi Flynn and bass work from former Jamiroquai member Stuart Zender.
"Closer" follows the explosive success of “Eat It Up” with Skepsis, which marked Tinie’s return to music after an eight-year hiatus. The new single is rooted in personal emotion, exploring a critical juncture in a relationship where commitment battles the fear of losing personal freedom. Tinie noted that Flynn's "raw honesty and depth" instantly brought the track's narrative to life.
For Abi Flynn, the collaboration is a significant moment. Despite her vocals being featured on multi-platinum dance hits and her having a credited UK Top 40 hit this year, she often went uncredited. On "Closer," she is featured as a primary artist, bringing a voice that carries both strength and vulnerability, stemming from her personal journey as a cancer survivor and mother.
Beyond the music, "Closer" serves as a sonic call to action for Tinie's newly launched 'Last Night Out' campaign, in partnership with the Night-Time Industries Association. The movement aims to combat the rapid decline of the UK's nightlife scene—which is projected to disappear entirely by 2029—by encouraging real-world, physical connections. Inspired by the younger generation's dependence on screens, Tinie Tempah is using his platform to motivate joy, movement, and community by urging young people to rediscover the dancefloor.
