Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the iconic Soho institution, is set for a major transformation with the launch of a new live music venue, Upstairs at Ronnie’s, in February 2026. This extensive refurbishment marks the most significant change to the club since its acquisition in 2005 and comes at a critical time for the UK's live music scene.
The newly redesigned 140-capacity space on the first floor has been completely rebuilt as an intimate auditorium. It now features enhanced acoustics, high-spec sound and lighting systems, and a new kitchen overseen by Executive Chef Steven Connolly. The venue’s programming will honor the club's rich history while also looking to the future, featuring a diverse lineup that includes contemporary soul, R&B, gospel, hip-hop, and classical music. It will also host its own version of the club's celebrated Late Late Show to showcase emerging talent.
For the first time ever, Ronnie Scott’s is also opening its backstage area to the public with The Greene Rooms. Named in honor of owner Sally Greene, this new "club within a club" will serve as an exclusive members' lounge and artist space, offering a unique Soho retreat for pre- and post-show gatherings.
Managing Director Fred Nash stated that the goal was to create "the greatest small live music venue in the world." The investment stands as a strong commitment to supporting live music and grassroots talent, particularly when so many venues are facing closures. This expansion is designed to make the club more accessible while also solidifying its place in London's cultural landscape. With over 65 years at the heart of the UK jazz scene, Ronnie Scott’s continues to evolve, championing innovation and cementing its legacy for years to come.
