Independent metal band Esprit D'Air have released their brand new track Chronos, taken from their forthcoming fourth studio album Aeons, which lands on November 7, 2025.
Chronos is written from the perspective of time itself, reflecting on humanity's tendency to fall into the same destructive patterns. The song blends heavy guitars, shamisen, and electronic elements, marking one of Esprit D'Air's most ambitious and intense works so far.
Vocalist Kai says, “Ever feel like history just keeps repeating itself? Will we ever learn? Sometimes it feels like the world is stuck on repeat. The same conflicts, the same mistakes that humans make. Chronos is written from the perspective of time itself, questioning whether we'll keep following the same path or find the courage to change. It's a reminder that change starts with us, even if it's just one small step at a time.”
The upcoming album Aeons dives deeper into the theme of time, which Kai describes as both a trap and a test. The songs were written against the backdrop of global uncertainty, conflict, and division, but also carry messages of resilience and hope. The record travels through despair and struggle but ultimately points toward renewal and the strength to move forward.
Esprit D'Air is led by guitarist and producer Kai, also a current member of The Sisters of Mercy, joined by drummer Vincent Velazco (ex-Ghost, Pendragon), bassist Takeshi (ex-MergingMoon), and guitarist Yusuke.
Following a successful European tour across ten countries in venues up to 1,500 capacity, Esprit D'Air will return this winter for a grassroots UK and Ireland tour in support of Aeons. Choosing smaller, more intimate venues, the band aims to deliver the energy of the new record up close. The run also includes a rescheduled Barcelona show after last year's nationwide power outage. Tickets can be purchased from their official website.
The new album Aeons features recent singles "Chronos", "Shadow of Time" and "Lost Horizon", as well as "Silver Leaf", which was chosen by Metal Hammer's readers as the Best New Metal Track of the Week.
Aeons follows the band's previous releases Constellations (2017), Oceans (2022), and Seasons (2024), each of which entered the Official Charts, with two singles in the Official Single Sales Chart.
Where past records included collaborations with Ben Christo (The Sisters of Mercy), Ryo Kinoshita (ex-Crystal Lake, Knosis), Tim 'Ripper' Owens (ex-Judas Priest, KK's Priest), and Heavygrinder, Aeons marks a new chapter, entirely written and produced by the band themselves.
