Universal Music is celebrating the lasting legacy of The Style Council with a series of three limited edition colored vinyl 7-inch singles. Representing the colors of the French flag, the singles will be released on red, white, and blue vinyl over the coming months, with more announcements expected later this year.
This special release marks over four decades since the debut album, "Café Bleu," and highlights the band's influential and socially conscious music. Formed by Paul Weller after the breakup of The Jam, The Style Council offered a new, sophisticated sound that blended soul, jazz, and pop.
The first single, "Speak Like A Child," will be available on September 19th. This red vinyl reissue features the original B-side "Party Chambers." Released in March 1983, it was the band's debut single and a bold new direction for Weller, reaching No. 4 on the UK charts.
On October 10th, fans can get their hands on "Long Hot Summer" on white vinyl. Arguably one of The Style Council's most enduring tracks, it was their biggest UK hit, reaching No. 3, and includes the original B-side "The Paris Match."
Rounding out the trio on October 24th is "My Ever Changing Moods." This blue vinyl release includes "Mick's Company" as the B-side. The track became the band's biggest hit in the United States, reaching No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is a fan favorite that often appears in Weller's live sets.
The singles will be available for order starting September 19th. To stay updated on The Style Council news and announcements, you can sign up for updates on Universal Music's website.
