Rex Orange County has officially returned with his new single, “Take A Drive,” an uplifting track produced by the legendary Pharrell Williams. The song was awarded BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, marking a strong start for the new collaboration.
“Take A Drive” is Rex Orange County’s first new music since his popular two-track release with Daniel Caesar, which has already garnered over 60 million streams. This new single sees the artist join forces with one of the most celebrated producers in music, resulting in a warm, groove-laden song that's an instant mood-lifter.
The track effortlessly blends Rex’s candid and introspective lyricism with Pharrell's signature production. Built on slick basslines, sun-soaked keys, and Rex’s distinct vocal delivery, the song encourages listeners to slow down and savor the ride, both literally and figuratively. This exciting union of two creative minds was crafted at the Louis Vuitton atelier in Paris, adding another unique layer to the single's story.
Rex Orange County’s career continues to expand beyond his own releases. His song “Love & Obsession” was featured in the new film Lurker, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, marking his first venture into music for film. He has also continued his creative partnership with Daniel Caesar and Mustafa The Poet, hosting an intimate performance and "In Conversation With" event in Cairo earlier this year.
With “Take A Drive,” Rex Orange County delivers a timeless anthem that perfectly merges introspection with pure joy.
